about

Australian composer and multi-instrumentalist No-kë is set to capture ears with her uplifting EP, ’Home’.

With a background in piano, flute and alto-saxophone, No-kë has carved a space in contemporary classical music and cinematic/ambient genres. Her previous releases that have been heard over 100,000+ times include, the incredibly haunting ‘Pre-lude’, an uplifting orchestral ‘Hush’ and an emotional drenched ‘Departures’

Since finishing her study at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, No-kë has gone on to apply her expertise scoring music for film, television and documentaries. Outside of music, real name Cassie To is a devoted environmentalist through her passion for conservation.

No-kë's 'Home' EP plays with very classical sounding motifs and instruments. It explores juxtaposing these sounds with more contemporary elements such as modern beats and synths. This is reflective of No-kë’s background in music - having played classical piano all her life and more recently written commercial music, using modern production methods.

No-kë new EP ‘Home’ is peaceful and uplifting:

‘Home is all about my happy place - the Farm. The idea was to recreate that sense of peace and contentment that I feel when I’m up there.'

On ‘Movement 1’

‘I always liken the first movement to a sunrise - where everything’s still a little bit foggy, the animals are still waking up and the frost hasn’t quite melted off the grass and you get those pastel hues in the sky. I’ve tried to recreate this ‘awakening’ with the use of ambient pads and the slowly developing string motifs’

On ‘Movement 2’

‘This piece represents everything waking up and coming to life. There’s a lot more movement in the second piece and a more serious tone in the opening, yet once we reach the climax it evolves into a more celebratory feel, like you’ve reached the end of a journey.’

As an added bonus, Eyegaze stablemate Pat Carroll has given 'Movement 1' his own electronic reinterpretation that has resulted in a fuzzy and drowsy take on the refreshing original.
